Little Dorrit, Little House, Tolkien's letters, two of Dillard.
In addition, this year I laid out for myself the - challenge? Responsibility? Limitation? - opportunity to read two, only two, and specifically two magazines via subscription. I couldn't have picked better: Ruminate Magazine and Kinfolk, each brimful of slow reading and thoughtful art. They last, like good books you don't mind taking your time on.
The Guardian newspaper's book club is doing Bleak House this month. I wish I had time for a reread.
The baby babbles happily downstairs. I'll have to go rescue her in a moment or two. She's always woken up happy; I find that lately she pops more alert and talkative - and patient - when there's a book waiting in her crib. This is a habit I'm happy to foster.

What a wonderful idea to leave a book for Ella to awake to - I think she will love the printed word as you do. And I love the look of Ella in the photo. It felt like, "look at me Grandma, I'm growing up fast!" I just stared at it for awhile sending my love to her.
Karen, I think there's a good chance that's exactly what she's saying!
How my heart leaps at the sight of Annie Dillard!! I haven't read A Writer's Life, but I think I own it. Let me know how it is.
Emily, I can't think of Annie Dillard without thinking of you and Pilgrim at Tinker Creek!
